Commemorating the Martyrs and Accepting Revolutionary Traditional Education
This year marks the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. To celebrate this grand festival, on the morning of July 1, 2018, a group of 44 party members, cadres, and activists from our company, led by Comrade Nie Zhiping, the party secretary, visited the patriotic education base, the Xiangyang Martyrs Memorial Hall, to deeply commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, pay tribute to the revolutionary heroes, and accept revolutionary traditional education.
In front of the statue of the hero, Secretary Nie solemnly presented a floral basket. Afterwards, we held a ceremony to reaffirm our vows. The party members solemnly swore under the party flag, revisiting the party admission oath, expressing their loyalty to the party and admiration for the revolutionary martyrs in unison. Comrade Fu Gangqiang, the deputy secretary of the party committee, delivered an important speech on behalf of the company’s party committee. Secretary Fu mentioned: Standing in front of the statue of the revolutionary martyrs, our souls are shaken. This is a baptism of the soul. We must always remember the party admission oath, strengthen our faith, love our posts, and work diligently, using the spirit of the martyrs to inspire ourselves and always play a pioneering and exemplary role in our work.
Entering the memorial hall is like stepping into a profound history, feeling that remarkable period. Everyone carefully visited while listening to the passionate explanations from the guides, gaining a detailed understanding of the Xiangfan Campaign, which lasted 14 days. Our army recaptured seven towns: Xiangyang, Fancheng, Laohekou, Guanghua, Gucheng, Nanzhang, and Yicheng, with 719 soldiers sacrificed and over 3,000 injured. After hearing about the advanced deeds of these revolutionary martyrs and viewing the relics, precious photos, and documents displayed in the memorial hall, everyone was shocked and deeply moved. Those martyrs were so young when they bravely sacrificed themselves, dedicating their hearts to liberating all of China during the national crisis. The firm communist ideals and beliefs of the martyrs are the spirit we need to inherit and promote today.
The Xiangyang Martyrs Memorial Tower is located at the top of Yanghu Mountain. The total length of the steps leading to the martyrs' tower is over 400 meters, with 643 steps, spacious and solemn, ancient and elegant. We climbed to the top of the mountain, paid tribute to the revolutionary martyrs' memorial tower, and took a group photo holding the party flag.
This activity was a vivid revolutionary traditional education and patriotic education, with far-reaching significance. Through this activity, the party members and cadres were greatly inspired both physically and mentally, deepening their understanding and recognition of the party's revolutionary history, and gaining a more thorough understanding of the dedication spirit of the Chinese Communists. We should learn from the martyrs' spirit of fearlessness and courage; in our daily work, we should be practical, diligent, and do our best in all tasks, contributing our part to the development and growth of the enterprise!
